Sara Omi Casamà is the first Emberà woman ever to become a lawyer in Panama. At the early age of 15, she decided to break away from her family and community in order to pursue education and eventually become a leader of her own people.

Today, she uses the power of the law to support the struggles of indigenous peoples, particularly women and youth. She dedicates her life to fight for empowerment and resilience against the violations and discrimination faced by indigenous communities.

Since the beginning, Treecolor Alliance has been a partner of AMARIE (the Artisan Association of Emberà women) of which Sara is a member.

We will continue to support these women who are fighting hard to diminish inequalities, improve food security and preserve the ancestral culture on their territory.

Thanks you Sara for your dedication!
